What a way to run a rodeo

STAR WARS Zero Company

It took me an embarassingly long time before I noticed the "ZCOM" pun.

So, uh, I am, like, way outside of the mainstream with my opinions here, but: I do not like this game very much.

The combat is slow, and mostly boring. The UI is awkward. The characters are boring. (Kabb's alright.) The voice acting is cromulent, except the main character (male version, at least) who at first I liked, but the "well, shucks" of it all gets kind of old.

The maps have what I call the "Oblivion Cave Curse" in that I'm pretty sure they aren't procedurally generated, but they sure feel like they are procedurally generated.

The story is something stupid about a space cult brainwashing people, I dunno, it's not even the kind of stupid I want in a STAR WAR (tm). I'm told it gets better later on. Unfortunately, after finishing a boring mission for yet another boring Boba Fett seeking boring clichéd revenge for mysterious reasons I'm sure will be unearthed in 3-4 subsequent missions, watching the boring cut-scene, sitting through a load screen, reading the summary report, watching the auto-save icon pop up, exiting to Windows, seeing the game crash, having a chuckle because I was quitting the game anyway, going to sleep, waking up the next day and putting in my 8 hours at my day job, making and eating dinner, practicing some guitar, then sitting down, loading the game, sitting through the intro logos so that they can be sure that I know that this is a STAR WAR, clicking "Continue", and discovering that my most recent save was the autosave at the start of the boring mission I started this run-on sentence with, I uninstalled the game and then wrote this up in a huff. So I won't be able to confirm if the story does in fact get better or not.

One Star.
