Angine de Poitrine - Vol. II

It's weird that this band blew up, but honestly it's probably the highly meme-able costumes. Initially I pooh-poohed them over someone being blown away by the looper trickery of a live performance. But when you sit down and listen to the actual music, it actually is a pretty cool thing, weird microtonal riffs that combine more eastern-style scales with western jazz and rock style rhythmic patterns. Which makes me sound kind of snobby, and I am probably a bit out over my skis here, but still. Good listening.
Four Stars.

Ween - God Ween Satan: The Oneness

Bought a box set of every Ween album, to catch up. Their first album, I can sort of see how if it hit you at the right time, you would become a stoner cultist for these guys. It's a bit too juvenile for me here. But there are some tracks there that show some of the secretly-kind-of-amazing-melodies pushing through all the funny voices and dick jokes. Stuff like Nan, or Birthday Boy.

The Mermaid Mask

I'm not sure how I stumbled upon the Detective Grimoire series. They are fun little murder mystery games. This is the new one.
Wacky characters. Great animations and voice acting. Some simple logic puzzles. Mostly you just need to talk to everyone and ask everyone about everything and the mystery solves itself, but it's a fun journey.
Three Stars.
