Ween - The Pod

Continuing my journey through the Ween discography. This album is still before they broke through to something resembling mainstream, but it's a big step up from the previous one, less juvenile (but still pretty dick-jokey), and more musically interesting. Really showing their chops as a "novelty act" that also "plays every genre of music in weirdo hybrid combinations of jazz-folk-blues whatever" and it was probably great to be a fan and also be really high.

No idea what the story is behind this band, nor how to read or pronounce their name. Mostly worried the unicode will break some parser in my site generator. Anyway, it was a random "recommendation" on Bandcamp, one of the rare platforms where I will tug on that thread to see where it leads. Holy shit does this album kick ass. Sometimes, the algorithm, it is good. I think we need some algorithm, but usually we have too much algorithm.

Makthaverskan - Glass and Bones

My favourite Scandinavian post-punk band. Thought they were long broken up though, for some reason. Nothing really standout here, but a pretty good time and always fun to have a band to recommend that you can more or less guarantee nobody you know in real life has ever heard of. Makes you sound real cool.
