Alan Wake 2 is a great, weird, story that I might even dare call Lynchian in its "makes sense in the moment but not after you wake up"-ed-ness.
It's also one of those annoying, inventory starved, slow paced, survival horror things.
No idea how well it executes on that one.
Marathon (2026) is an "extraction" shooter.
You spawn into a map filled with robots and other players.
You kill stuff (sometimes other players), loot stuff (sometimes other players).
Maybe do some missions.
Then you try to "exfiltrate".
If you succeed, you get to keep all the stuff you found and bring some of it with you back into the next match.
If you are killed (probably by another player), well, then you don't get to keep any of your stuff, including any stuff you brought with you.
Some of the stuff is better than other stuff, so you'd rather not lose that stuff, but also the better stuff makes it easier to get even better stuff than that.
Just got off the ice, it was a pretty easy win.
My teammate had a comment at one point, after her counterpart had a mini outburst following a missed shot.
That guy is not good enough to be that mad.
I like that phrasing.
I'm going to keep that in my back pocket.
I'm not a huge fan of Tame Impala's recent trend toward dance music or whatever you want to call it, the beats and the melodies were never the secret sauce.
