The Leftovers

This show does a great job at depicting the world after one of those "nothing will ever be the same" type events, in that the world mostly moves on but also is kind of just a little bit more insane than it was before. The first season has the reputation of being just way too grim and depressing, but I actually might prefer it for the sheer intensity of it all. But it's true that the second and third seasons are where they really nail a certain vibe and aesthetic, and you just need to play a couple of notes off the soundtrack to trigger a Pavlovian reaction of heartache for me.

A Dream Within a Dream

This is probably one of the most genuinely funny one of these things that I've seen. And some of the fight choreography was way better than it had any right to be for this kind of show. But the lead actors did not really have a lot of chemistry for me and so a lot of the middle sections dragged even more than usual. Too many songs.
